Well established in the 1940s, 50 and 60s, gospel groups like the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Soul Stirrers with immerging soul singer Sam Cooke, the Swan Silvertones and Nashville, Tennessee’s Fairfield Four – a vocal ensemble that has existed for over 90 years, remain popular today.
