This Thursday, February 26th at 10 am, Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 focuses on the potential impact of an expanded school voucher program on public and private education in Wisconsin. Our guest is Dr. Julie Mead, a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis of UW-Madison’s School of Education, who will be in Wausau to participate in a forum hosted by the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service. Mead will speak at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the UW Center for Civic Engagement, 625 Stewart Avenue, on the topic “Public Schools and Privatization: What’s At Stake?” Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has proposed eliminating the cap on the statewide Wisconsin Parental Choice Program, which provides vouchers for tuition at private schools.
