The Oshkosh Northwestern reported school districts are firing more teachers since Act 10 became law in Wisconsin. Act 10 was part of the controversial budget bill passed in 2011. It ended collective bargaining rights for most public sector unions in Wisconsin--including teacher unions.
Barry Forbes, Associate Executive Director and Staff Counsel for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards confirmed that school districts are renewing fewer contracts than they were before Act 10, but he says teachers aren't let go for job performance reasons without warnings.
