John Demain returns to the WPR performance studio in Madison as the Madison Symphony Orchestra opens its 89th season and their 10th year in Overture Hall on September 19-21, 2014. They’ll be performing works featuring Strauss, Martin, and Saint-Saëns.
DeMain talks about how the Overture Hall organ will be used with Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra (popularized by the 1968 film “2001: A Space Odyssey”), Frank Martin’s Concerto for seven wind instruments, timpani, percussion, and string orchestra, and the Saint-Saëns Symphony No. 3 (Organ Symphony).
