Big Eau Pleine Reservoir

Air Date:
Heard On Route 51

We take a look at the chronic water problems and the recent massive fish kill in central Wisconsin’s Big Eau Pleine Reservoir. The Wisconsin DNR has estimated that 70 to 80 percent of the fish in the reservoir were killed because of low oxygen levels over the winter, leaving homeowners with a huge mess on their shorelines, and local recreation businesses worried about their future. Guests will include Tim Garrigan, a local homeowner and president of the Big Eau Pleine Citizens Organization; Dave Coons, director of environmental affairs for Wisconsin Valley Improvement; Ed Hammer, Marathon County Regional Planning Director; and Tom Meronek, DNR fisheries biologist.
