This week we’ll preview the first annual Betty Boop Wisconsin Festival, scheduled for August 5th – August 8th in Wisconsin Rapids. The festival honors the work of Grim Natwick, a groundbreaking cartoonist and animator who was born in Wisconsin Rapids, and who brought the iconic flapper to life at Hollywood’s Max Fleischer studios in the late 20’s and early 30’s. Guests include: festival director Cathy Meil and local artist Jeanne Weywouth to discuss the upcoming festival weekend, and the impact of Grim Natwick and Betty Boop on American culture. The show will also feature music clips from some of the original Betty Boop cartoons.
