Supreme Court Puts Voter ID On Hold Yet Again

The U.S. Supreme Court put Wisconsin’s voter ID law on hold on Thursday while it decides whether to review a court challenge to the law.

This came on the heels of Monday’s ruling by the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago that the law would remain in effect for the November midterm election. The Supreme Court ruling means a decision on voter ID law will remain on hold until the court either turns down the appeal, or it accepts it and makes a final ruling, which could take months.

Supreme Court Opens The Door For Same-Sex Marriage

The U.S. Supreme Court said on Monday that it would not review a lawsuit filed against the ban on same-sex marriage both in Wisconsin and elsewhere, in effect clearing the way for same-sex marriage in the state.

Same-sex marriage bans could again come up on the court’s docket if appellate courts that still have related cases uphold bans on same-sex marriage.
