This Thursday, August 28th at 10 am, Route 51 discusses the soon-to-be-open David R. Obey Civic Resource Center with the former, long serving Seventh District Congressman, Dave Obey and his Legislative Director and Senior Policy Advisor, Paul Carver. Host Glen Moberg will ask Obey and Carver about the more than two million pages of the former Congressman’s notes and documents which will be on display at the center, and about its role in teaching and encouraging young leaders to become active in the political process and to get involved in public service. The grand opening of the David R. Obey Civic Resource Center will take place Wednesday, September 3rd at 4:30 pm at the UW Center for Civic Engagement on the UW-Marathon County campus in Wausau. Obey represented northern Wisconsin’s Seventh Congressional District for 41 years. He attended UW-Marathon County in the late 1950s. Carver worked for Obey for 28 years, until the Congressman retired in 2011.
