Wisconsin's counties saw their highest unemployment rates of the last decade, by and large, in early 2010. Which of them have rebounded the most? Darker colors indicate bigger recoveries, but look closely: counties that never saw particularly high unemployment won't have had as far to recover...

There's an expectation that if a person works hard and stays loyal to their employer, they'll eventually be able to retire. For some in Wisconsin nearing retirement age, though, that goal is being cut short.

All eyes were on Janesville five years ago when General Motors closed its plant. It meant the loss of thousands of jobs at the plant and in nearby Rock County factories. Five years later, the plant is still shuttered, but the local economy is gradually gaining steam again.
