Romney tells Janesville crowd he will win Wisconsin

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney focused on job creation during a campaign stop Monday, in Janesville. The city has the 7th highest jobless rate in the state.

Wisconsin’s biggest-name Republicans — Rep. Paul Ryan and Gov. Scott Walker — went to bat for the former Massachusetts governor: they were on the podium along with Romney at a Janesville textile plant. Walker nearly brought down the house giving the introduction, by making a reference to Wisconsin’s recall election two weeks ago, “Good morning! It is my honor to still be the 45th governor of the state of Wisconsin.”

With 90 degree heat outside and a packed crowd sweltering inside, Romney couldn’t resist a joke when it was his turn at the mic: ”Did you see that? That was water dropping down from the ceiling. Did you see that? It’s so hot in here that the building’s sweating.“

Romney then launched into criticism of President Obama and laid out part of his own plan for job creation: ”I’m going to make sure there’s a level playing field between labor and management. We’re going to have good schools again. Our schools are falling behind. It’s inexcusable. I want to train our workers for jobs of today and tomorrow“

Protestors outside the event portrayed Romney as someone unsympathetic to how the economy is affecting middle and low income persons.

Romney also visited Iowa Monday as part of a six state bus tour.
