With the help of a $100,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The Pew Charitable Trusts, the Institute for Wisconsin’s Health will spend the next year analyzing data on the impact frac sand mining has on western Wisconsin communities.

While Wisconsin Republicans in Congress say President Barack Obama's new immigration plan will hurt the chances for a longer-term immigration bill, imigrants and immigrant advocacy groups say that shouldn't be so. They're applauding Obama's action, though some are skeptical of the new protections.

Plummeting cold temperatures are causing crews shipping goods along the Mississippi River to move quickly before the water freezes over, at the same time forcing farmers to ship grains and other products by barge at a faster rate.
