Milwaukee Volunteer Corner

Thank you for visiting the WHAD-FM Volunteer Corner!

As you know, energetic volunteers are key to the success of Wisconsin Public Radio and we are happy to have you along!

Where we were in 2005…
In 2005 volunteers assisted in answering phones and entering forms during our three on-air pledge drives. We also had volunteers assist at remote broadcasts, WHAD listening sessions, open houses, and station receptions. WHAD-FM volunteers also help staff information booths at art fairs and city festivals throughout southeast Wisconsin during the summer.

Where we are going in 2006…
Jonathan Overby is coming to Milwaukee for a statewide broadcast event on January 28. The winter pledge drive runs February 16-24. And there's ongoing needs for help with the day-to-day operations at our downtown Milwaukee studios.

Want to help? Just go to our volunteer sign-up form here for information!

Then watch your e-mail for information on upcoming opportunities!

If you know of any great art fairs or summer festivals that would be a good fit for IDEAS 90.7 WHAD-FM, please email Sandi Lewenauer, promotions and events manager.

Why do our Volunteers Volunteer?

I volunteer because WPR is the only source of news I feel I can listen to without knocking my head against a wall. It is balanced, well researched, believable and not just a 15-second blip. The quality of staff is superb: Kathleen Dunn, Ben Merens, etc. I love too the quirkyness of some programs, the laughter, the spontaneity, the joy. I can't live without it!
---Cookie Anderson

I travel all over the country and always look for public radio. There are some good individual programs, here and there, but I feel no one offers what we have in Wisconsin Public Radio, with our variety, quality and the ability we have to participate by calling in to our programs. I'm delighted that WPR is now on the web, because that allows me to listen in occasionally when I am away from home. And I really know I am "coming home" when I am close enough to tune in again on my car radio. It's a great service and we all need to help keep it strong.
