November 14: Local Independence features local music from Minnesota and Wisconsin with hosts David Smuhl and Scott Morfitt. The hosts typically interview an up-and-coming local artist.
November 7: Local Independence features local music from Minnesota and Wisconsin with hosts David Smuhl and Scott Morfitt. This week, Morfitt will interview Eau Claire based rock band Heart Pills about their upcoming album. The group originally formed as a hobby for the members but they are hoping to show listeners how their sound has refined and how they have matured as people on their new album.
October 31: Local Independence features local music from Minnesota and Wisconsin with hosts David Smuhl and Scott Morfitt. This week, Morfitt will interview local writer and musician Michael Perry. Perry is the highest selling author in the Chippewa Valley and is recognized nationally. When people read Perry’s books, they can’t help but fall in love with Wisconsin because of how Perry writes about it. Also, Perry will talk about his country band. The group’s newest album is called “Tiny Pilot.”
October 24: Local Independence features local music from Minnesota and Wisconsin with hosts David Smuhl and Scott Morfitt. This week, Morfitt will interview recording engineer Jaime Hansen. Hansen has interviewed many artists, including S. Carey, Mel Gibson and the Pants, Jim Pullman and Echo Bravo. Hansen is currently recording with Matt Hapalla and Ben Hinz, both of the experimental group “Ronald Raygun.” The group will perform on Oct. 30 at The Bottle and Barrel in Eau Claire.
October 17: This week, Local Independence hosts David Smuhl and Scott Morfitt will interview musician Chris Coza, from Minneapolis-based band Rouge Valley. The band is releasing four seasonal albums, which were reviewed by Minneapolis publications City Pages and Vita.mn, along with radio station The Current. The hosts will also talk about Rouge Valley’s upcoming concert at the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre.
The show includes local Eau Claire music artists mixed in with regional artists and a guest interview each week with a visual artist, musician or other local independent personality.
