The first person to actually publish a ragtime composition was Kentucky’s Ernest Hogan, minstrel, musician, and composer. As a teenager, Hogan worked in traveling minstrel shows as a dancer, musician, and comedian and, with other notables helped create the musical genre called ragtime.

For a number of years, perhaps decades, a quiet number of artists from diverse genres around the globe, have on occasion, dined at the same musical table where the flavors of their respective traditions have wedded. Today we call this musical intersection – World Music Fusion.
