When Cincinnati Zoo workers shot and killed a gorilla after a 4-year-old boy fell into its enclosure, animal rights activists quickly condemned zoos for the living conditions of their animals.  But zoo officials maintain that zoos play key roles in preserving species, caring for animals and educating the public.  Should animals be held in captivity in zoos?
