Ryan Anthony - Norman and Stephanie interview trumpeter Ryan Anthony who performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra at the Overture Center in Madison on Friday, March 26.
They played Albinoni's Concerto St. Marc and Haydn's Trumpet Concerto. Mr. Anthony has played with the Canadian Brass and is currently Principal Trumpet with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

Sebastiaan de Rode - Norman and Stephanie interview Dutch cellist Sebastiaan (Bas) de Rode. Mr. de Rode studied at the Sweelinck School of Music Amsterdam and has played with orchestras such as the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra.
He will be playing recitals in several Madison venues from March 22-29 including Bon Appetit Cafe, the Washington Hotel Coffee Room and The Frequency.

Jonathan Bliss - Norman and Stephanie talk to pianist Jonathan Biss. Mr. Biss performed the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 9 "Jeunehomme" with the Madison Symphony Orchestra in three concerts on Friday March 19th, Saturday March 20th and a matinee on Sunday, March 21st at the Overture Center.

Eroica Trio - Norman and Stephanie welcome the Eroica trio to the WPR studios. They performed a recital on March 11th and then performed with the UW-Madison Chamber Orchestra on March 13th, both at the Wisconsin Union Theater in Madison.
Their album "An American Journey" was nominated for a Grammy award and they won the prestigious 1991 Naumburg Award which resulted in a highly successful Lincoln Center debut.

Pinchas Zukerman - Norman and Stephanie welcome internationally renowned violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman to the WPR studios.
He and his wife, cellist Amanda Forsyth, performed works by Bruch, Mozart and Saint-Sa ns with the Madison Symphony Orchestra in several concerts from Friday, February 5 through Sunday, February 7 at the Overture Center.

Minneapolis Guitar Quartet - Norman and Stephanie welcome the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet into the studio. The quartet includes Jeff Lambert, Joseph Hagedorn, Ben Gate o and Steven Newbrough, and plays a repertoire ranging from Renaissance and Baroque to Spanish, Latin American, Romantic and even contemporary works.
They'll be performing with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra at the Overture Center in Madison on Friday, January 22 at 8pm.

Simone Dinnerstein - Norman and Stephanie interview pianist Simone Dinnerstein who performed at UW-Madison's Wisconsin Union Theater on Friday, December 4th.
She made her New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in 2005, performing Bach's Goldberg Variations. Her Madison performance will include Webern's Variations for Piano, Copland's Piano Variations, Schubert's 4 Impromptus and Bach's French Suite No. 5 in G-major.

Sylvia McNair - Norman and Stephanie interview Grammy award winning vocalist Sylvia McNair. She's performed on over 70 recordings in the past 25 years and is known for her ability to sing for jazz, theatre and opera.
She is on the voice faculty of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. McNair performed a Christmas program December 4th with the Madison Symphony Orchestra and Chorus as well the Madison Youth Choir and the Mount Zion Gospel Choir.

Ralph Kirshbaum - Norman and Stephanie interview cellist Ralph Kirshbaum. He performed with his 1729 Montagnana cello Friday, November 20th with the Madison Symphony Orchestra at Overture Hall.
The program will include Respighi's Fountains of Rome, Bloch's Schelomo, Dvor k's Silent Woods and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.

The trio includes violinist Eleanor Bartsch, pianist Thomas Kasdorf and cellist Maureen Kelly. The trio was formed in 2007 at the UW-Madison.

Matt Haimovitz - Norman and Stephanie talk to violist Matt Haimovitz who also plays live in the WPR studio. Haimovitz performed at Cafe Carpe on Friday, October 30th in Fort Atkinson, WI.
The program brought together a wide range of new music for cello and electronics by leading and emerging North American composers. For this performance, he was accompanied by Du Yun on keyboard, laptop and vocals.

Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg - Norman and Stephanie talk to violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg who will be performing with the Madison Symphony Orchestra at Overture Hall this Friday through Sunday.
The performance included Glinka's Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla, Piazzolla's Four Seasons of Buenos Aires and Mahler's Symphony No. 1. Her professional career began in 1981 when she won the Walter W. Naumburg International Violin Competition. In 1999 she received the Avery Fisher Prize.

Augustin Hadelich - Norman and Stephanie talk to violinist Augustin Hadelich who performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra October 9th.
Mr. Hadelich won the 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grant and a Gold Medalist of the 2006 International Violin Competition. He made his Carnegie Hall orchestral debut in January 2008, performing the Brahms Double Concerto and recently performed with Los Angeles Philharmonic, Houston Symphony and Tokyo Symphony.

John Harbison - Norman and Stephanie welcome John Harbison to the studio. Mr. Harbison is a composer and the artistic director of the Token Creek Chamber Music Festival.
The festival consists of four concerts between Saturday, August 29th and Sunday, September 6th as well as a special program of music, art and local history as part of Sun Prairie's annual "Discover O'Keefee" celebration.

The Kat Trio - Live from WPR's music studio in Madison, Norman and Stephanie talked to the members of The Kat Trio and heard them perform music by Gottschalk, Rachmaninov, Brahms, Drdla, Kreisler, Kern and Schickele.
They talked about their music and their extensive Wisconsin Tour which will include performances in Madison, Stevens Point, Green Bay, Lodi, Amery, and Oregon, Wisconsin.

Amelia Piano Trio - Norman and Stephanie welcome two members of the Amelia Piano Trio who performed on July 3, 2009 at the Thrasher Opera House as part of the Green Lake Festival.
The program included Haydn's Trio #14 in A flat Major and Trio in G Major, Cowell's Four Combinations of Three Instruments, and the Brahms Piano Quartet in G minor.

David Pittsinger - Stephanie and Norman interview Bass-Baritone David Pittsinger. Pittsinger completed a starring role in the revival of South Pacific at Lincoln Center in New York City and played the lead in the Madison Opera production of Charles Gounod's Faust on the stage of Overture Hall in Madison on May 15th and 17th, 2009.
