Solutions to Milwaukee Gun Violence - In Milwaukee last week, 19 people were shot in a five-day period, leaving at least three dead, and 16 wounded. In response, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has asked Governor Walker for tougher sentencing for illegal gun possession, and $500,000 in funds for police overtime. But Joy Cardin's guest says police overtime won't solve the deeper problems in Milwaukee that are fueling this violence, and says instead the state should support efforts that strengthen community.

Tougher Sentencing for Drunk Drivers - Wisconsin has the highest rate of drunken driving in the nation, with more than 26 percent of adults admitting to driving under the influence of alcohol in 2009 alone. In the same year, alcohol-related crashes killed 238 people, and injured nearly 4,000. For the second half of the State Capitol Report, Joy Cardin talks to State Rep. Jim Ott, who wants to create a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence for drunken driving incidents that lead to someone's death, and make the third drunk driving offense a felony. The bills received a hearing before the Assembly Judiciary Committee earlier this month.
