Spectrum West for October 10, 2013 - Jon Greendeer, president of the Ho-Chunk Nation, joins the show talking about the initiative with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on collaborative activities. The Chippewa Valley Jazz Orchestra's concert on October 18 previewed by board president and drummer Geoff Peterson and guest artist and composer Andrew Neesley. Ross also welcomez Doug Pearson to look at the Chippewa Valley Book Festival sponsored by the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center. Spectrum West for October 3, 2013 - Spectrum West features noted artist and snare drum craftsman Eric Lee from Eau Claire. Host Al Ross visits Lee in his workshop to talk about the art of drum making. The show also previews the 15th Annual Fresh Art Studio Tour in Pepin and Pierce Counties from founder and co-director Jean Accola. The Ericksons, a sister musical duo, join the show to talk about the events that have shaped their unique sound. Special Correspondent Jim Oliver shares a conversation he had with Stephen Mitchell, director of the Barron Spotlighters' about their production of The Diary of Anne Frank opening October 10 at the Barron Area Community Center.

Spectrum West for September 26, 2013 - Verse Wisconsin, a publication showcasing excellence in diversity of poetry in Wisconsin, was featured on Spectrum West this week. Ross talked to co-editors Sarah Busse and Wendy Vardaman. Erik Johnson, assistant professor of digital film and TV at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, joined the show to discuss his department as well as his appointment as a 2013 Seminar Fellow by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Spectrum West also previewed two fall art tours: the Fall Splendor Art Meander on Sept 27 and 28 from Bloomer to Spooner, and Falling Leaves Art Studio Tour on Oct 5 and 6 from Fall Creek to Fairchild. Special Correspondent Jim Oliver interviewed Arlyn Colby of Barron, author of The Blueberry Line, a book that features railroad history in western Wisconsin.

Spectrum West for September 19, 2013 - Spectrum West featured pianist and music teacher Nick Phillips talking about his new CD, American Vernacular: New Music for Solo Piano. Ross then welcomed Alan Grostephan, UW-Eau Claire Alumni who is back for the Blugold Visiting Writer Series. Grostephan talked about his highly praised book, Bogota. Spectrum West also provided a preview of the Septmeber 19 press conference on The Confluence Project, which supports building an arts/civic center in Downtown Eau Claire. Special Correspondent Jim Oliver interviewed playwrights Jim and Jane Jefferies who hosted a Comedy Faire, which is a series of three, one-act plays in one night. The September 20-21 event was also a benefit for Teamwork Africa, which digs wells and builds schools in Liberia.

Ross talks to Todd Kirschbaum, rodeo coach and advisor from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Spectrum West showcases unique music by two groups from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The first, The Chiaroscuro Trio, features Aurelien Petillot, Elizabeth Petillot, and Yuko Kato. The second, Chance, consists of Ed Willett and Cheryl Leah, both known for their affiliation with the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua. Special Correspondent Jim Oliver interviews Kari Steinbach, director of Hudson's The Phipps Center for the Arts about its production of Becky's New Car.
