So much for transparent government.

As the legislature returns to Madison today, the clear glass doors to the public viewing gallery of the Wisconsin Assembly have all been replaced with frosted glass.

The public galleries were occasionally raucous last session as some protesters would shout at lawmakers during floor debate.Many others were voluntarily arrested as they protested the chamber’s ban on holding signs and taking pictures.

The switch to translucent doors follows several security measures taken at the Capitol in recent months including ticketing protesters who gather daily for a sing-along in the rotunda.
