More Fire Deaths In West Allis

By

West Allis police say three people have died in a house fire. That pushes the recent death toll from fires in the Milwaukee suburb to five.

The West Allis police department issued a press release around 9 p.m. Thursday night, saying four people had died in a late afternoon house fire in a neighborhood about a mile south of State Fair Park. Later the police changed the number of people believed killed to three. The deadly blaze comes just a few weeks after two boys died in another West Allis house fire. Dave Reske lives down the block from the latest victims. He says in a time of smoke detectors and other warning devices, five deaths are far too many in a city of 60,000 people.

“Anytime something happens in your neighborhood, where somebody gets hurt – even though we’re just neighbors, we’re not family – we have to look out for our own here. So, it’s kind of sad when someone loses the fight.”
