Learn About The New WPR.org

New Site Launches Wednesday

By

Welcome to new WPR.org! Wisconsin Public Radio unveiled a new website on Wednesday morning, taking a major step forward in our efforts to create a vibrant, public-centered presence in digital media.

WPR’s mission is simple: We want our audience to have easy access to news, talk and music content wherever they are. The new site continues to serve as a terrific accompaniment to the radio programming, but now also embraces members of our audience who prefer to reach us via their computer, tablet or cell phone.

We’ve designed the site so that it will adapt to any device. This approach, known as responsive design, allows us flexibility in how we display our content. You’ll notice that the presentation of the site seeks to mirror audience behavior. As an example, those using WPR.org on their smartphone will find a simplified layout and convenient links to listen to audio, presuming they’re on the move and looking to listen.

This approach also ties into WPR’s commitment to be the state’s best source of news, talk and cultural content. The new WPR.org lays the foundation to achieve this goal in the digital realm. We’ve made some important upgrades:

  • A new homepage that emphasizes the content you know and love.
  • A popup audio player that quickly and easily plays archived audio and livestreams on demand.
  • New articles and show summaries (A.K.A. Program Notes) that better partner with audio clips.
  • Content reorganized into topic categories as well as on-air shows.
  • Content more shareable on social media, like Facebook and Twitter.

While we’ve made a lot of changes, we’re still the same WPR you can depend upon.

Moving forward, WPR.org will continue to evolve and respond to our audience feedback and changing technology. We hope you stay tuned as there are many more additions and improvements to come.

If you have questions, comments or suggestions about the new site, we want to hear from you. Please fill out this brief survey and tell us what you think.
