Ho Chunk Gather Up Prized Bison Herd

Many ranching operations round up their cattle herds in the winter, and the Ho Chunk Nation is no exception.Every year, a group of volunteers brave the cold to round-up the tribe’s bison herd in the Richland County town of Eagle.Using trucks, bullhorns, and cattle prods, they run the huge, burly animals through a penned-in trail called “The Alley”, which leads to several chutes where the bison are weighed, inoculated, and tagged with microchips for tracking.
