Police Shooting Victim's Uncle Asks Protesters To Remain Peaceful, Respectful

The uncle of a Tony Robinson, a black man who was shot and killed by Madison police on Friday, says the family doesn’t support the anti-police slogans being chanted by protestors since his nephew’s death.

Turin Carter spoke to reporters on Monday afternoon in front of the house where his nephew was killed. He said that while he supports the “black lives matter” theme of the protest, he believes all lives matter, and wanted to make it clear that Robinson was raised in a biracial family.

Carter also said he was grateful for the community support showed to the family. He said he thinks the Division of Criminal Investigation, however, has not shown the family the respect he thinks they deserves. He said he nevertheless trusts the process of the ongoing probe into Robinson’s death. He predicted that once the facts come out, it will be clear his nephew did not deserve to die.
