Planned Marshfield Hospital Would Employ 1,000 People, Clinic Director Predicts

Groundbreaking For Facility Is Scheduled For This April

A new hospital planned for Marshfield is now predicted to create 1,000 jobs.

Marshfield already has a hospital, Ministry St. Joseph, whose leaders argued unsuccessfully that the region couldn’t support another one. Marshfield Clinic executive director Narayana Murali said the new eight-story hospital will build on what their clinic is already doing.

“We’re looking at a future state-of-the-art hospital, which has high technology competence to provide the service that we’re already delivering in the market at this time,” he said.

Murali is now predicting that at least 1,000 people will work there, although he cautioned that “it’s difficult to be absolutely accurate until the final construction is complete.”

Groundbreaking is scheduled for April, with final construction slated for the summer of 2018.

The Marshfield Common Council gave the go-ahead for the new hospital in a unanimous vote in late January.
