It’s been six weeks since a Saudi Arabian student at the University of Wisconsin-Stout was attacked and killed near campus, and though police have a suspect no charges have been filed.

Hussain Saeed Alnahdi, 24, was found unconscious in the early hours of Oct. 30, near a late-night pizza shop in Menomonie. He was bleeding from his nose and mouth and died the next day at an Eau Claire hospital.

On Nov. 18, police announced they had a suspect who was not a UW-Stout student and didn’t live in Menomonie. No arrest was made with police saying the suspect posed no danger to the community. It was also determined the killing was not a hate crime.

Charges of felony murder and substantial battery were recommended by Menomonie Police, but charges have yet to be filed. Dunn County District Attorney Andrea Nodolf said she’s still reviewing the case and will issue a press release once a decision is made.
