Nez Perce Elder Recalls Nagasaki Ruins

Tomorrow (8/6/05) marks 60 years since the atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. A few days later, Nagasaki was hit, signaling the end of the Second World War. Among those who witnessed the devastation was Horace Axtell, a Nez Perce tribal elder who was stationed in Nagasaki while in the Army. He recently talked with his great nephew, Brian Bull, who produced this narrative on what Axtell saw while approaching the blasted city....
