Two governors met in Milwaukee today for a closed-door fundraiser, while outside the event, groups raised concerns about health care coverage for people who typically do not give a lot of money to politicians. New Jersey governor Chris Christie came to Milwaukee to be honored, according to the invitation from the campaign of Christie's fellow Republican, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. The minimum price for lunch was $250. Prior to the event, Shyquetta McElroy was part of a protest group. McElroy is a mother of two and is getting bumped off Wisconsin's BadgerCare program, because she says she now barely exceeds the program's income limits. McElroy says this creates a difficult choice for her. "I have to choose between work and to provide for my family, or having a knee surgery that I've been needing for almost the last six months." The group that McElroy was with, Citizen Action, says Governor Walker's concerns about the Affordable Care Act could push tens of thousands of people off BadgerCare, while Governor Christie is more receptive of the federal money. Walker's campaign kept the news media out of the fundraiser, and did not reply to a request for comment about BadgerCare.
