FALK SAYS SHE'LL WORK TO REDUCE WISCONSIN STUDENT DEBT WPR News - Falk says she'll work to reduce Wisconsin student debt
Thursday April 19, 2012 by Shawn Johnson
Democratic candidate for Governor Kathleen Falk says that if elected she'll work to reduce student loan debt in Wisconsin. Falk's plan mostly involves connecting Wisconsin students with federal programs designed to help students manage debt. She says she would also work with university leaders, students and businesses to reduce student loan debt in Wisconsin. "Education is too important," she says. "It's too important for the economic engine of this state to ignore this crisis." Falk also says she'll work to restore funding that was cut from the University of Wisconsin budget, though she won't say how much. Falk faces Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Secretary of State Doug La Follette and State Senator Kathleen Vinehout in the May 8th Democratic primary.
