MILWAUKEE MARCH TO SUPPORT MARTIN AND MORRISON WPR News - Milwaukee march to support Martin and Morrison
Wednesday April 11, 2012 by Chuck Quirmbach
(MILWAUKEE) A march in Milwaukee Tuesday (4/10) afternoon aimed to remember two African-Americans killed by people using home-defense laws. The Coalition for Justice for Trayvon Martin and Bo Morrison says the death of Martin in Florida and Morrison in Slinger have a common thread. Coalition spokesperson Brian Verdin says the thread is similar laws gone wrong. Supporters of the Florida and Wisconsin laws say the measures deter crime and give people more powers to protect themselves, but Verdin argues self-defense has always been allowed in the U.S. The coalition still hopes the man who shot Bo Morrison will be prosecuted, though the Washington County district attorney has chosen not to press charges. In Florida, legal action may be coming in the Martin case.
