Mary Jo is WPR’s Education reporter based at the network’s western Wisconsin bureau in Eau Claire. She is also host of a regional call-in talk show called “The West Side”.
With a teacher education degree, she is able to offer a unique perspective to education topics. She also covers general news topics, including government and agricultural issues.
Mary Jo got her start reporting and producing the news at a television and public radio station in Illinois. She then traveled north to Eau Claire, WI where she was a news reporter and anchor at a commercial radio station before starting her tenure at WPR. Her continuing educational pursuits include classes in journalism, public relations and computer technology.
Mary Jo has won numerous awards from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA), the Radio and Television News Directors Association, the Associated Press, the Milwaukee Press Club, the State Bar of Wisconsin, and the Northwest Broadcast News Association (NBNA).
