It was also a year of floods, trials, budget delays, home runs...and an upswing in some prominent wildlife. Wisconsin Public Radio news microphones captured much of the action and debate. Delayed Legislation Affecting Food Reserves

During the holiday season, people feeling generous keep their local food pantries stocked with supplies for those less fortunate. But while shelves are full overall, the supply of government surplus food has hit a low point at some Wisconsin pantries. That's because the 2007 Farm Bill has been stalled for a long time in Congress. Government-supplied food is important for keeping pantries full year-round, especially when individual donations are low.

Grant Allows Latino Services to Expand

For the past several years, a church in Sparta has been offering English classes and other programs for Latino immigrants. Now, with the help of a three-year, $190,000 grant from the Jessie Ball DuPont Fund, St. John’s Episcopal Church as opened a Hispanic resource center that will eventually operate as a separate, non-profit entity.
