5/31/02 – 25-Thousand Members of 'Rainbow Family' Come to Wisconsin

(Chequamegon) A group that espouses a back-to-the-earth, peace and love philosophy is considering meeting in northern Wisconsin next month. About 25-thousand people of the Rainbow Family are considering camping out in the Chequamegon or Nicollet National Forest from the end of June through July. Mike Simonson has the story.

(Necedah) Wildlife biologists are happy that five famous whooping cranes are back in Wisconsin after spending the winter in Florida. But the scientists say their experiment with the cranes is far from over. The birds are part of an effort to create the first migrating flock of whoopers in the eastern U.S. in about a century.
