MUSIC FOR THE 2005 HOLIDAY SEASON

Wisconsin Public Radio's special holiday music programming will be heard on stations of the
NPR News and Classical Music Network.

Fri, December 9th 8:30-10pm Pipedreams "Ring Them Bells"
Perhaps from hanging around in the organ lofts near those bell towers, organ composers have amassed a fine pile of bell-music.
 
Fri, December 16th 8:30-10pm Pipedreams "Holiday International"
Christmas music from many lands is transformed by the colors of the pipe organ .
 
Sat, December 17th 8-9pm Riverwalk, Live from the Landing "Hot Jazz for a Cool Yule: Joyful Jazz for the Holidays "
The Jim Cullum Jazz Band and friends “jazz up” holiday classics like “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “Nutcracker Rag," and a special rendition of “Little Drummer Boy” with tap dancing sensation, Savion Glover.

The 1996 Archiv recording from London’s All Saints Church: Paul McCreesh, the Gabrielli Consort and Players and various soloists.

Gary R. Schwartzhoff leads the Eau Claire Master Singers in a collection of carols. Harpist Paula Smith joins the singers in her “Christ Child Medley.”

s Performers and instruments in the United States transform a global collection of holiday melodies.

The live broadcast from King's College Chapel in Cambridge, England. This annual event, based on a liturgy created in 1918, weaves together scripture and song and is hosted by Michael Barone.

In addition to “A Prairie Home Companion,” Garrison Keillor hosts a live New Year’s Eve celebration with the Guys All Star Shoe Band, Andy Stein, Jearlyn Steele, Duke Heitger, Howard Levy, Butch Thompson, Prudence Johnson and poet Billy Collins.
 
Sun, January 1st, 2006 10am New Year's Day from Vienna
The Vienna Philharmonic in the annual live broadcast from Golden Hall of the Musikverein. NPR's Korva Coleman hosts the world's most popular classical music concert.
