The Ekaterinburg Classical Trio
This unique classical ensemble was born in the summer of 1998 in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Vasil, Victoria, and Vladislav,
all graduates of the Ural State Conservatory, decided to take their love of music and their piano-violin-clarinet
arrangements to festivals and concert venues throughout the Urals. They spent much of that summer playing to enthusiastic
audiences in town halls and indoor stages. The audience feedback was encouraging, even inspiring, all the while
reinforcing the overpowering feeling that their calling is to take their new impressions of classical music and their
heartfelt performances to a much greater audience.
Like most musicians, struggling to launch their careers, Vasil, Victoria, and Vladislav all have day jobs. Here are
some individual notes on each of the trio members.
Pianist Vasil Galiulin, was born in Kirovgrad in 1975. When at home in Russia, Vasil is a teacher at the
Ural Music College. He has performed competitively, winning a first premium at the International Youth Pianist
Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia and a second premium at the competition in Sennegalia, Italy in 1995.
Vasil participated in the International Music Competition of ARD in Munich, Germany in 1997.
Violinist Victoria Gorbich was born in Moscow in 1974. When not touring with the Kat Trio, Vikki is a soloist
with the orchestra at the Theatre of Music Comedy in Ekaterinburg. She traveled to America in 1995 to perform in the
International Youth Art Festival Orchestra in Madison, Wisconsin.
Clarinetist Vladislav Gorbich has roots in Sverdlovsk, where he was born in 1975. When home in Ekaterinburg,
Vlad is a soloist with the State Military Orchestra. Like his wife Victoria, he traveled to America in 1995 to perform
in the International Youth Art Festival Orchestra. His other travels as a performer have taken him to Wurzburg,
Germany for the International Band Festival and to Budapest, Hungary for the International Military Band Festival.

"Joyful" is the word that audiences use to describe the Trio's presentation of classical, inspirational, and pop standards.
The Kat Trio has done three concert tours of the United States, performing more than 250 concerts in Los Angeles, San
Francisco, San Jose, Chicago, Denver, Lincoln, Des Moines, Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Appleton and numerous small
communities, impressing audiences with their exceptional arrangements, artistic interpretations, and captivating
technique.
During their 2003 Tour they played the US from coast-to-coast. In California they played for "The Hour of Power"
telecast at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove. Traveling east to New England, they presented a concert for the
Russian Week Celebration at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Following this tour, they returned home to
Ekaterinburg where they performed weekly concerts, recorded a new album, and prepared for a return tour of the US.
The Trio enjoys spending time in the recording studio. They have released five CDs in the U.S.
