S&S Cycle will be expanding motorcycle manufacturing operations in western Wisconsin after receiving a loan from La Crosse County.

The La Crosse County Economic Development Board approved S&S Cycle for a $200,000 loan to help fund upgrades at its facilities in La Crosse and Viola.

S&S Cycle is one of three local businesses to receive a loan through the Economic Development Fund since 2009.

La Crosse County officials see the loan as a way to encourage other economic expansion. County Board Chair Tara Johnson said the county’s board’s unanimous decision to issue the loan is a good sign for further developments in the local economy.

“It was very much a vote of confidence in their business plan, in the business model and the rebounding of the economy being able to support this new initiative for them,” said Johnson.

The company produces a series of different parts that are used in Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

S&S Cycle plans to create 38 new jobs in La Crosse and 57 jobs in Viola over the next three years.
