A proposal form a Republican state lawmaker would allow the governor to appoint the state schools superintendent, instead of citizens voting to fill the position. The lawmaker behind this proposal explains why he wants to change the process of selecting a state schools superintendent, and then an education expert discusses how this proposal would change education in the state, if it were to pass.
