The Milwaukee Coalition Against Trump is leading a march tonight to protest the inauguration of President Donald Trump. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the protest according to the coalition’s Facebook page.

Rachel Buff, co-coordinator of the Milwaukee Jewish Voice for Peace, said she hopes the march will be a catalyst for a new movement.

I’ve been talking to a lot of people about that this week,” Buff said. “Actually since Election Day. How do we inaugurate our regime of resistance to what’s taking place in our country?”

Buff said public protests are just the tip of the iceberg in ways to show resistance to Trump’s agenda.

“We will be calling senators every day about a different issue and making our voices heard politically,” she said. “We will be organizing to support candidates, organizing around particular issues, which we have so many of in Milwaukee.”

Buff said today’s protest is also important for emotional support.

The protest kicks off the organization’s 100 Days of Resistance against Trump.
