Friday, December 17, 2010: Norman and Stephanie welcome Jim Latimer of The Madison Marimba Quartet. The ensemble will be performing at a free concert on Sunday, December 26th at 1pm in Mills Concert Hall located on the UW-Madison Campus. They've been performing together for over 15 years. Members of the Quartet are Tim Gruber, Laura Guse, Jim Latimer and Tom Shaver.

Thursday, December 2, 2010: Angela Brown is an internationally known soprano appearing with the Madison Symphony Orchestra this weekend for their annual Christmas Spectacular. She will appear with the Madison Symphony Chorus, Madison Youth Choirs and Mt. Zion Gospel Choir. Ms. Brown debuted with Metropolitan Opera in 2004.

Friday, November 12, 2010: Norman and Stephanie interview violinist Rachel Barton Pine. She will be performing with the Lake Geveva Orchestra at the Elkhorn Area High School on Saturday, November 13th. The program includes Elgar's Nimrod from Enigma Variations, Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio Espagnol and Bruch's Violin Concerto in G minor. She will also be holding a free Masterclass at 11am Saturday at Delavan-Darien High School in Develan.

Thursday, November 11, 2010: Norman and Stephanie welcome cellist Alisa Weilerstein to the WPR studios where she plays her English-made 1790 William Forster cello. The 26 year old sensation will be performing Dvorák's Cello Concerto with the Madison Symphony Orchestra from November 12-14 at the Overture Center in Madison.

Thursday, November 4, 2010 - Norman and Stephanie talk to bass Jason Hardy who will be performing as Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro with the Madison Opera on Friday, November 5th and Sunday, November 7th at the Overture Center in Madison. He has performed in productions with the New York City Opera, the Atlanta Opera, the Florentine Opera and with Wolf Trap Opera. Hardy has recently released his first solo CD, entitled "Youth and Love".

Monday, August 2, 2010 - Norman and Stephanie interview composer and singer Steven Ebel. He was the first singer/composer in the 118 year history of the Royal Opera House in London to perform his own work "Diary of a Young Poet" under their auspices. He is currently a guest artist at the Steans Institute at the Ravinia Music Festival until August 19, 2010. Although currently living in New York, he's originally from Jefferson, Wisconsin and was a winner of WPR's Neale-Silva Young Artists Competition in 2001.

They talked about their music and their upcoming preformance at Divine Savior United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 25. The members of the "Ekaterinburg Classical Trio" are clarinetist Vlad Gorbich, violinist Vikki Gorbich and guest pianist Patrick Christians.

Tuesday, June 8, 2010 - Norman and Stephanie join 19 year old pianist Sejoon Park who plays live from WPR's Buck Studio in Madison. Born in Seoul, Korea of musical parents, he started playing at the age of six. He's appearing at PianoArts, the biennial North American piano competition. Their competition finale with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is on June 9th in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Wednesday, April 1, 2010 - Norman and Stephanie interview French pianist Philippe Bianconi. After winning the Silver Medal in the 7th Van Cliburn International Competition, he made an acclaimed recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 1987. Mr. Bianconi lives in Paris and performs extensively in Europe. He will be performing with the Madison Symphony Orchestra on Friday, April 15 through Sunday, April 17 at the Overture Center. Included in the performance will be Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Wednesday, April 1, 2010 - Norman and Stephanie visit with Mike Lachrone, Director of the UW Marching Band and The Varsity Band. The 300-member UW Varsity Band will play several concerts on April 16-17 at the Kohl Center in Madison. These concerts are the 36th annual Varsity Band Concert and also includes a celebration of the the birthday for the UW's official song, "On, Wisconsin!" Lachrone received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Wisconsin Foundation for School Music in 2007.

Mr. de Rode studied at the Sweelinck School of Music Amsterdam and has played with orchestras such as the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra. They're performing a recital on March 11th and then will perform with the UW-Madison Chamber Orchestra on March 13th, both at the Wisconsin Union Theater in Madison. Their album "An American Journey" was nominated for a Grammy award and they won the prestigious 1991 Naumburg Award which resulted in a highly successful Lincoln Center debut.
