Looking at the recession’s role in domestic violence trends in Wisconsin

On September 15th last year, 1,900 victims of domestic violence and their children across Wisconsinreportedly received life-saving services from local domestic violence service providers.Experts in Wisconsin answered 749 emergency hotline calls.But in that same 24 hour period, 273 requests for serviceswere unmet, because there simply wasn’t enough money to help.Those numbers are a snapshot taken by the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence.WPR’s Terry Bell talked to Cyrus Dehroozi,head of the Safety andPerformanceDivision at the WisconsinDepartment of Children and Families, on how the bad economy is affecting domestic violence.
