Lawrence University Will Start Accepting Transfer Students From 2-Year Public Colleges

Lawrence University, a private four-year institution in Appleton, will help students transfer from public two-year colleges to join its student bbody..

Under the terms of the new agreement, a Lawrence admissions director will have regular office hours at the nearby University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley Campus. That director will help students figure out what credits would or would not transfer.

“My understanding is that this is the first partnership between a private institution and the UW Colleges,” said Lawrence University President Mark Burstein.

Lawrence is also accepting applicants who want to transfer from 11 other UW two-year colleges.

Burstein said the high-priced private liberal arts school is also offering financial assistance.

“We will provide a $20,000 scholarship for every transfer student. So $20,000 a year for every transfer student,” he said.

Lawrence expects between 10 and 15 UW College students will transfer each year to the school, which has a student body of about 1,500 people.
