Congress approved the Keystone XL pipeline on Friday just hours after the Nebraska Supreme Court cleared the way for the project, with no Wisconsin Democrats voting in favor of the bill.
Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Weston, said with the Nebraska court decision, it’s time for the president to change his mind on Keystone.
“This is not only a jobs bill,” said Duffy. “This is a bill that’s going to bring us closer to American energy independence — which is a security issue, but it’s also an issue for all of our families who want lower gas prices at the pump.”

Twenty-eight congressional Democrats voted with Republicans to approve the project, but none of them were from Wisconsin. Rep. Ron Kind, D-La Crosse, said on Thursday he would vote “no,” in part because of the environment.
“We know there will be spills,” he said. “There always are with pipelines, and it will be on the back of the American taxpayer to have to pay for all of the clean-up cost. And this tar oil is extremely hard to clean up.”
Kind made his comments during an appearance on “The Joy Cardin Show.”
