Holder Says Hate Crime Against Sikhs

Attorney General Eric Holder is using the terms terrorism and hate crime, to describe last week’s killings of a half-dozen Sikh worshippers at a temple near Milwaukee.Holder spoke at a memorial service in Oak Creek Friday that honoredthe shooting victims.

Now-deceased gunman Wade Michael Page had connections to white supremacy groups.Law enforcement has said it’s been investigating Page’s killings in Oak Creek as possible domestic terrorism or hate crimes.Attorney General Holder seemed to declare to two-thousand mourners at Oak Creek High School that the police have made their determination.”And that is precisely what happened here,” he says.”An act of terrorism. An act of hatred. A hate crime that is anathema to the founding principles of our nation and who we are as an American people.”

Holder says the U.S. should sensibly discuss if there’s a need to change any laws, and talk about changing the hearts of those filled with enough hate to kill others.Relatives of some of the victims also spoke and promoted peace over hate.Prabhjot Singh of the Sikh Coalition says that may not be what Wade Page had in mind when he fired on worshippers.
