Let Freedom Sing: The Story of Marian Anderson
AUGUST 27, 2009 THURSDAY AT 3PM CT

Composer Bruce Adolphe and librettist Carolivia Herron wrote the one-act opera Let Freedom Sing: The Story of Marian Anderson to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Anderson's 1939 Lincoln Memorial Concert, organized after she was denied the right to sing in Constitution Hall. Today, on the eve of Marian Anderson's 1963 performance at the Lincoln Memorial during the famed March on Washington, we celebrate the story and song of this civil rights veteran.

Guest
  • Bruce Adolphe, composer of Let Freedom Sing: The Story of Marian Anderson
  • Carolivia Herron, African-American writer, scholar, librettist of Let Freedom Sing: The Story of Marian Anderson
