  • Becoming a member of The Signature Circle is a unique way to leave a legacy that you can be proud of. Planned giving is a win-win situation. It benefits both the giver and the receiver. The most popular type of planned gift is a bequest and there are many other options, including gifts that can minimize or eliminate federal estate and gift taxes.

Elliot and Marion Sweet are founding members of the Signature Circle. They have passed on a legacy of learning to the next two generations of their family and the next generation of yours by making a planned gift.

Elliot and Marion Sweet Elliot and Marion Sweet support what they value.

For over five decades they have passionately enjoyed and supported the programming on Wisconsin Public Radio. However, Elliot and Marion’s love for WPR hasn’t stopped with them; it has permeated those closest to them, their daughter Barb and their granddaughter Cady. Because Elliot and Marion have shined the light on the benefits of public radio, through making a planned gift, they have extended what they value across three generations of their own family, and the next generation of yours.

The fact that Elliot and Marion’s daughter Barb and granddaughter Cady share their passion for WPR means a tremendous amount to them. According to Marion, "When we made out our wills, we made a list of all of the causes that we wanted to support. WHA was one of our favorites." Elliot recalled, "We started giving during the annual fund drives. Then we reached a point where we knew that everybody should have a will and we got serious about it. I think you just get the feeling that if you know you want to give something to WHA every year, it’s natural to think: ‘maybe someday I won’t be able to do this because I won’t be here.’ It’s my way of being able to give at least one more year. If you enjoy public radio, then you probably want your children to enjoy it as much as you do. And if you are a planned giver, you are ensuring that it will be there for them, too."
