Paul Poberezny, the founder of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), has died. He was 91 years old.
Poberezny founded what has become the world’s largest aviation convention. Dick Knapinski, the EAA’s spokesman, says Poberezny was a trailblazer.
“He was on the scene to see Charles Lindbergh fly across the Atlantic and remembered that history,” says Knapinski.

Poerezny served in the military in World War II and the Korean War, “then came home, worked, raised a family. He did all those things while creating this organization which really lit a spark among a lot of people who wanted to get in the air.”
The EAA’s annual fly-in drew a half million visitors this year. Private services are planned. The family asks that donations be made to either the EAA or the American Cancer Society.
