Wisconsin’s Fort McCoy will soon offer its soldiers up to date housing for the first time since World War Two.

The last barracks building in Fort McCoy was built back in 1941. But it lacks air conditioning, and there are holes in the floor boards. The new building will have more toilets, individual showers, activity centers, and study areas.Brian Harrie is the community planner for the Department of Public Works at Fort McCoy.He says people are impressed.

“We haven’t had any soldiers in it yet, everybody that we’ve shown it to is amazed of the finishes and the amenities, simply because we haven’t seen anything like that in 70 years,” he says.
