Marquette University law professor Edward Fallone says he will not run against Republican Governor Scott Walker next year.
“I can declare that I will not be a candidate for governor,” Fallone said Friday morning on WPR’s Joy Cardin Show.
Fallone challenged State Supreme Court Justice Patience Roggensack in the spring general election this year and was defeated, 58-42 percent. He said it’s “concerning” that strong candidates are not stepping forward to take on Walker despite Wisconsin being a state he says that Democrats could win.
In response to a report that state Rep. Brett Hulsey (D-Madison) is thinking about a run, Fallone says he is not a viable candidate because he lacks the money to mount a serious campaign. Madison School Board member and former Trek Bicycle executive Mary Burke has said she’s considering a challenge to Walker.
Fallone appeared on the “Week in Review” with longtime Republican political activist Kevin Hermening of Wausau, who jokingly clarified that he, too, would not be a Democratic candidate for governor.
