Education Budget Focuses On Milwaukee

Wisconsin’s Superintendent of Public Instruction is asking for a six percent hike in state aid to schools over the next four years, an increase of more than 580 million dollars.In her budget address at the State Capitol yesterday, Elizabeth Burmaster called for boosting the state’s share of funding for the Milwaukee school voucherprogram, and she offered an incentive to skilled teachers who volunteer to work in inner-city Milwaukee and rural school districts.Gil Halsted reports…
