Tender paws need protection from not only snow and cold, but salt and other deicing products as well. Photo: Bruce McKay (CC-BY-NC-ND).

Paw wax

  • 2 oz olive oil
  • 2 oz coconut oil
  • 1 oz shea butter
  • 4 tbsp beeswax

Heat everything together in a double boiler or pan over low heat, then pour into small containers and allow to cool. This can be applied to the paws of the feet and between the toes to protect them from the ice, sand and salt! Can also be used on dry, cracked noses. If there is irritation I add in a drop of Lavender essential oil or calendula oil.
