If voters return Justice Louis Butler to the State Supreme Court next Tuesday, he would become the first African-American ever elected to the position in Wisconsin.Butler was appointed to fill an open seat on the court four years ago by Governor Jim Doyle.Since then he’s sided with the majority in some high profile cases that critics have said are signs of an “activist” bench.
In many ways, it’s made this race a referendum on Butler’s record, both on the Supreme Court… and as a public defender more than 15 years ago.Wisconsin Public Radio’s Shawn Johnson has this report…
